Soft pastels
Pastel paper or sugar paper (a dark colour works really well, as the colours glow on the dark paper) - Subject matter to bring:
- Photo/s &/or objects that might suit. Subjects that might lend themselves to the medium might be: animals, birds, portraits for example or a landscape.
- May 29th NO CLASS, Bank Holiday!
- June 5th: Ink & bleach (subject of your choice)
- Materials to bring:
-
If just using inks, then any inks are fine, but you might like to buy a water soluble, so that they can be watered down & used in a similar way to bleach
Optional: if using bleach, Windsor & Newton Drawing inks/ & or Quink ink (both work, but Quink probably the most responsive to bleach).
Thick household bleach (can be watered down)
Cartridge paper or mount board works really nicely, items to apply the ink & bleach such as, old paintbrushes (bleach will ruin the brush), nib pen, cocktail stick other mark making implements, gloves if preferred. - Subject matter to bring:
- Photo/s &/or objects that might suit. I have included some examples of ink & bleach from previous classes for you to see some of the effects you can create with the medium.
- June 12th: Line & Wash (subject of your choice)
- Materials to bring:
-
Black biro works really well or a fine liner if you prefer. (Waterproof pens are best, although a non-waterproof pen can create interesting effects if you wish to experiment.
Watercolours
Watercolour brush/es
Either Hotpress (smooth) watercolour paper or cartridge paper that is suitable for taking some water - Subject matter to bring:
- Photo/s &/or objects that might suit. Subjects that might suit this medium could be flowers (dried work really well), or old buildings, maybe a village scene for example). It is a very loose approach to working. I have included a link for you to look at as a starting point if you are unfamiliar.
