BLOCK 3:
- Mar. 9th: Oil Painting (week 1)
- If you are new to oil painting, I would suggest keeping it simple so that you can concentrate on applying the paint etc. A simple still life (just one object such as an apple or pear or onion would keep it really simple). If you are more experienced, you could do a still life with a couple of items, such as an old pair of shoes or boots for example.
- Materials to bring:
-
Stiff bristle brushes suitable for oil/acrylic. I will have some spare that can be used, but not enough for everyone, so if you have your own that will be great.
Palette (A cheap option is to use just greaseproof paper). If using greaseproof paper, you will need parcel tape to hold it down if sticking it onto the table, as masking tape won't stick.
Rag/s to wipe brushes
Low odour white spirit if using oils or low odour solvent such as Sansador or Zest it.
Surface suitable for oil painting. Options would be canvas paper, canvas, canvas board, wood panel or plywood (primed with either PVA/water mix & then household emulsion). -
Oil paints. If you would like to just try out oil paints without having to go out & buy them, there will be oil paints at the venue. (A small contribution towards what you use would be great).
Colours if bringing your own (as close to the following as you can):
Oils:
Quinacridone Rose
